Case study - Visit Vancouver Washington

The tourism board of Vancouver, Washington invited me up to capture new images & video they can use for their many applications to promote tourism to Vancouver. Working directly with their marketing team, I understood exactly the kind of content they were looking for and set out to capture their vision. Visit Vancouver WA was able to receive over 125 assets all with an unlimited-use license with no expiration date.

Details matter. I am intentional about providing content that is consistent in it’s color and emotion, and edit with consistency to established brand colors. My photography, video, and assets are color graded with the same tones, and on-brand with the existing color pallet of the organization.

“Dave was a joy to work with, exceeding our expectations for the quality of content he produced, as well as taking direction and keeping an open line of communication at all times. He asked all the right questions in order to deliver exactly what we wanted, and is very considerate of budget, time, and other logistics making the whole process go very smoothly. We can’t wait to use his photos and video for future marketing and advertising campaigns, on social media, and much more!”

Visit Vancouver

For video content, I delivered twenty-minutes of video clips from the shot list Visit Vancouver provided. These clips can be used in a variety of applications, from promotional videos to social media content. The following video is a sampling of clips delivered to Visit Vancouver.

In addition to providing content for Visit Vancouver WA, I also added a selection of photos to my Unsplash Gallery. What is Unsplash? It is globally one of the largest stock-photography websites, owned by Getty Images. I have a strong relationship with Unsplash, with over 100+ features in their editorial feed, 185M+ views of my content, and 750K+ downloads (as of August, 2022). Within 10 days of posting Visit Vancouver WA content to my Unsplash Gallery, an iconic photo was featured in their editorial and added as their cover photo, generating millions of views and thousands of downloads in under two weeks.

With Unsplash, each photo gets a location, description, and details named. People who frequent Unsplash for stock photography become aware of new locations, and this drives travel and inspiration.

Unlike other forms of marketing like social media, the shelf life of images on Unsplash or in curated galleries is much longer and much more impactful. Social media is fleeting, and “influencers” are as only as influential as their engagement generates despite their followers. Promotion in a gallery generates much more engagement and much greater longevity.
