mediterranean Content trip

This summer I’ll be spending forty-days around the Mediterranean Sea. During this time I’ll be shooting for tourism boards, client work, and personal projects. And I would love to partner with you, as well. This content trip will be unlike no other I’ve ever hosted, nor will it be like any other commercial shoot I’ve ever done.

Locations around Italy include Rome, Florence, various parts of Tuscany, Venice, and the Dolomites. Locations around Greece include Athens and various islands in the Aegean Sea, including Patmos.

The new world meets the old world.

One very important distinction that will make this content trip so special is the format of the capture.

Most commercial shoots (including all of my own) utilize the highest quality modern cameras and lenses. For me, this is the Sony ecosystem with their Grand Master (GM) lenses. This system renders incredibly sharp and technically perfect images.

For this content trip, I’ll be setting the Sony system aside and primarily shooting on Leica Rangefinders on both digital and film. Leica cameras have a rich and robust history, with the company starting in 1869 as Leitz (later renamed Leica by combining LEItz and CAmera). By 1914 they were producing their first professional camera. During WWII, Ernst Leitz II helped Jews escape Germany by appointing 73 Jewish people as representatives of Leica, putting a camera in their hands and sending them to Leitz offices in France, the UK, Asia, and the USA. Post-war, they launched the M system, which is still around today nearly seventy-years later.

While Leica has progressed and made modern M cameras, they retain old-world ascetics, principles, and function. The images they produce are art straight out of the camera.
